They say that 2013 taxes will be a disaster? I think they have been for years! Congress acting like little kids who do not want to share their toys! What do we expect but a stalemate and name calling! If we had term limits then we would be rid of the “career” politicians and if we voted on any pay raise or benefits for Congress instead of doing so themselves (what other job can you give yourself a raise and tell your employer later!) and then they may actually do what the taxpayers want done instead of sitting up on the hill and not getting anything done! I am sick of whining politicians and the negative crap we constantly get thrown at us while they actually accomplish nothing!
There should be no difference between income levels on what is paid! Too many times people argue that they should not pay more but yet after a certain income level they do not pay into social security or medicare but I know alot of people that because they lost the money they made and were in the higher tax bracket now collect from the government! There should be a certain percentage paid for taxes with no deviation, period! If you make 12,000 a year you pay the same percentage as a person who makes 12,000,000 a year! I am sick and tired of the whining upper bracket that they have to pay too much yet they do not pay as much a percentage of their income that the lower income do! Think about it, the ones up high have tax shelters and top tax attorneys to work their “magic” and they reduce down to way below what they should have paid! I am sick and tired of Republicans wanting to lower taxes for the top and not for the bottom.
Right now our state will have a measure on the ballot to abolish property taxes. People are complaining about where the money would come from. They will have to raise sales tax and honestly, that would be alot more fair and possibly get the local infrastructure actually taken care of because the local governments are not! The sales tax option makes sense because everyone pays in and the more you by the more you will pay instead of the ones with the largest properties having ways to reduce their property tax. It will also take care of the issue of businesses and new homes or apartments getting tax breaks for several years while the rest of us have to pay more to make up for it!
My husband and I are not living in poverty but we are definitely not close to any six figure income either since I ended up in a wheelchair and if we can pay our taxes why can’t someone who does make that or above is beyond me! If I see one more story about people making six figures or more complaining that they feel like they cannot make ends meet I swear I will lose it! How can you complain about making that much money and that you can only afford tuition for state college for two kids instead of worrying where your next meal or medications or rent comes from like sooooo many Americans these days is beyond me! Get off your high horse and come back to reality and shut up!
The IRS is already a disaster due to stupid, idiotic tax laws brought on by and ineffective and incompetent Congress who can only whine and blaim everyone else but themselves! We the taxpayers need to vote out the long timers and actually get new people in so that things may possibly get moving! I have never voted for anyone more than twice! Two terms is long enough and no matter how good they in the first two terms they inevitably forget their constituents if they go in the third term! I have seen it over and over but unfortunately by that time people just hear the name and since they know that and not any other they vote them in over and over! When I made a similar comment on a message board once, someone asked me if I never voted for an incumbent then, and of course that makes no sense when I said I don’t vote for a third term! Therein lies the problem most of the time, communication! When you have a politician who has been in for two terms their name is known and they have higher contributions where a newcomer struggles to get their name out there. If term limits were in place this would not be a problem because the two termer would not be eligible! Seems like common sense but there is not alot to go around anymore and that is and will be our downfall! No common sense!
