This story makes me tear up because I have seen too much of this over the years.

I am NOT against the military, I take issue with some of the things we get involved in that do not make sense to me logically. My ex-husband was in the Marine Corp. and my husband was in the Navy both during the Gulf War. Many family were in the military for years and either are or were in past wars way back. Some of those make sense and some do not!
I remember the barracks bombing that a memorial was constructed later at Camp Johnson (which is next to Camp LeJuene) in Jacksonville,NC. when I lived there. I looked at those names of those lost and all I could do was wonder, “why?”. The Iraq War I believe should have ended long ago or not started at all. We are going to places that people have been fighting for thousands of years, why do we think we can change that now?
We have lost too many good people in senseless acts! Do not mistake the fact that I do believe we should have gone after Bin Laden because I know that was right, BUT why are we not backing off and bringing home all of our people from these areas we should not be in? I know that more are being sent over soon and I wish it made sense but it doesn’t, not to me anyway!
Now I have actually seen how quickly they gear up and are gone with all the equipment and I guess to me it doesn’t make sense in how long it takes the government to bring them home! I have seen plenty of deployments and homecomings and several that have not made it home alive. I believe that moral is falling for those deployed, no you will not hear that officially because they cannot say that but I have friends and we have had family that really do not want to be deployed again or do not understand why they are going back when told they were pulling out.
No matter what type of government statement from anybody of why they think it is a good idea, to me, it just doesn’t make sense.
I feel for this family that have lost two of their 3 sons and also am glad for the policies that will keep their last living son out of conflict. It is terrible to retire from the military but end up dying in the same area you were at in the military. The other son, seeing what he had to see being a medic and I am also happy that the other son was able to get to Germany to see his brother, as well as the family. This does not take the pain away, but they were doing what it seems that they always wanted to do. Their family will always be proud and so will our country for their sacrifices but when will it end when we are out of places that we have no need to be.
Going to an area where they have been fighting and killing each other for centuries seems like a wasted effort. I am not saying that there are ones that do not want that happening there but they need to stand up and not keep pulling us into their own infighting!
I know this will not be popular with some but and I understand that but to me sending our military to police other countries and losing the numbers we have is not popular with me!
Again I thank this family for their sacrifices!
